Six new AIIMS-like
institute are about to start functioning from this September. Now
students will get opportunity to compete for some more seats. These
new institutes will start their batch with 50 students each. This
means in addition these will offer 300 more seats to aspirants.
These new AIIMS-like institutes will
start functioning at Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Rishikesh and
Bhopal. According to government's statement these institutes will
start functioning by September and will give admission to just 50
students in its first batch. The number will be increased to 100
next year.
Presently, these institutes are working on developing
the infrastructure facilities once these facilities will be fully
developed 100 students will be enrolled in these institutes.
Once these new institutes will be operational it will help to cure
the regional imbalance of availability of seats in undergraduate
medical colleges, where south and west have the maximum number of
medical colleges.
The admission to these colleges will be given on the basis of the
AIIMS undergraduate admission test which
has already been conducted. AIIMS, New
Delhi, enroll only 77 students at MBBS
level every year. The rest in the merit will get admission in these
new institutions.

1. Reputation of old established Medical colleges is much
better.
2. First batches will face difficulties continuously for 5 ½
years.
3. Top faculty is not joining the new AIIMS.
4. Without dissection facilities, anatomy will be incomplete.
5. Buildings will remain under construction for atleast 3 to 4
years and premises will be risky.
6. Students will have to go to other Medical colleges for
dissection, practicals and clinical postings, where they will get
step motherly treatment.
7. Without proper teaching and clinical exposure, performance in
Pre PG will suffer badly.
8. AIIMS students will not be able to
avail benefit of 50%State quota in Pre PG exams, and PG seats in
AIIMS will be comparatively much less in
number.
only one new AIIMS like institute should be started every year with less number of seats and new institute should only be started when one get fuly acomplised with every facility..
